The little choices we make through out our lives can be the difference between being happy and healthy or depressed and unhealthy. It’s the daily decisions made that produce results, good or bad.
Let’s use a quick example of two co-workers getting their daily coffee at work. Carla gets a Café Latte and Brenda gets a black cold brew. Carla’s latte has 150 calories and Brenda’s cold brew has 0 calories. Say they get coffee 5 days a week for 48 weeks per year. For Carla that’s 36,000 calories or roughly TEN POUNDS. It’s a small daily decision that can have a big impact on your future.
Big, instant changes rarely work. Small changes, practiced daily, have the power to build routines that will ensure you reach your goals.
Let’s say your goal is to reach your desired weight and maintain it for life. You make a plan to eat three healthy meals per day with no snacks. You plan to exercise for an hour daily. But currently, you don’t eat healthy and you don’t exercise. How long is your plan going to last? Will you actually take any action on it?
START SMALL
Pick ONE small thing to change and do it daily for the next two weeks. Maybe it’s your choice of coffee drink, go from the latte to a black cold brew. Perhaps it’s your lunch. Pack a salad instead of going out. Pick something. Do it for two weeks. Watch your momentum build. Prove to yourself you are capable of doing it daily. After two weeks, add in another SMALL change.
Small changes create HUGE results. Choose your small change and GO!
